THE majority of people in this country oppose the war in Afganistan, but opposition to the war does not mean lack of support for the soldiers our Government sends into battle.

It is not surprising therefore to see that hundreds lined the streets of Crawley to cheer on the soldiers of The Tigers and that many turned out to see the same battalion parading through Brighton. Included in this would have been those campaigning for an end to the war in Afganistan with a view to bringing our troops home.

It is a shame then that the inclusion of a photo inset of an English Defence League supporter in The Argus’s report (June 17) will have associated supporting troops with far right wing views and provocative demonstrations throughout the country.
