A woman in Lancing and a woman in St Leonards have been taken to hospital after being struck by cars.
At 7.25am the first woman, in her 70s, was taken to Worthing Hospital with a serious head injury.
She was struck by a car in South Street, Lancing.
Sussex Police closed the road for more than an hour while the scene was cleared.
Shortly before 2pm today another woman, also in her 70s, was hit by a car in London Road, St Leonards.
She has sustained stomach injuries.
Police and ambulance are at the scene.
The road is currently closed.
