Pride preparations are well underway with 15ft high fences surrounding Preston Park.

It is the first time the park has been fenced off after bosses decided to charge for the event.

More than 25,000 tickets, over half of those available, have now been sold for the park on Saturday.

However revellers are still being reminded to buy their tickets in advance in order to avoid big queues on the day.

A box office has been set up at St Peter’s Church in Brighton. It will be open from noon until 10pm today and from 8am tomorrow.

The Preston Park box office will open at 9am.

The park will be closed to the public today as the final preparations are made.

They include installing 500 temporary toilets, 1,600m of pedestrian barriers and 115 ticket windows.

Nearly 6,000m of fencing will be used on the site and recycling facilities will also be put in place. Organisers plan to recycle 85% of the day’s waste, an improvement of 15% on last year.

More than 1,500 staff will be working at the park tomorrow.
