Three hooded men tried to abduct a 12-year-old girl on her way home.
The Year 8 pupil from Brighton and Hove High School was approached by the men who tried to look through her bag, grabbed her and said: “You are coming with us.”
The girl, who has not been named, shouted: “I don’t know you.”
A passer-by scared the men away.
Last night police said they were taking the incident, which happened at 3.55pm on Tuesday, “extremely seriously”.
The incident happened in Nizells Avenue as the schoolgirl was passing St Ann’s Well Gardens.
Police have carried out door-to-door inquiries and examined CCTV footage.
