Tributes have been paid to a brave little boy who has lost his battle against cancer.

Felix White, six, from Hove, died after a long fight against a rare and aggressive form of the disease.

His parents described him as their “beautiful baby boy”.

Felix had been having pioneering treatment at a US hospital to try to control his neuroblastoma.

The youngster had spent more than two and a half years fighting the disease, in the UK and Germany.

He suffered a relapse in January and had travelled to the US with his parents, Matt and Colleen, his twin brother Elliot and his sister Grace, to undergo more treatment.

On their website, which followed Felix’s progress, his family wrote about how they surrounded his bedside on August 23 as he slipped away.

They wrote: “Our beautiful, beautiful baby boy earned his angel wings.

“We think some people spend a very long time figuring out and doing what they need to do on earth, our little Felix got his job done here very quickly.

“We know his life and his story does not end here, despite how unimaginably deep and wide the hole in our lives feels right now.”

Felix’s bravery touched the hearts of many people and last year he was named one of the winners of a Child of Courage award at the Argus Achievement Awards.

Comedian Rob Brydon also organised a fundraising show at the Theatre Royal in Brighton after meeting Felix and being impressed by his resilience.

He was joined on stage by stars including Michael McIntyre, Ronnie Corbett and Jason Manford and the event raised more than £60,000.

Felix’s family held a celebration service of his life at a church in the US, which was followed by a cremation.

They plan to bring Felix home to England at the end of September, when they will hold another service for friends and family.

Looking to the future they wrote: “In terms of our plans now as a family, we are really taking things day by day at the moment.

“Our US visas expire in December so between England and the US, we know we will find a good place to re-group over the next weeks and months and try to adapt to life without Felix by our side.”
