SUSSEX Police have said they will investigate claims that one of their officers was speeding, after it was reported on Twitter.
A woman in Crawley reported the alleged offence to the force’s official Twitter page.
She said she witnessed the officer driving at 41mph in a 30mph zone and 60mph in a 50mph zone.
She added that the car, which had no blue lights, was forced to swerve to avoid a pedestrian.
A police spokeswoman said: “We have replied to this tweet, advising to call the non-emergency number so that this report can be recorded and looked into fully.
"As far as we are aware this report has not yet been received.”
Increasing numbers of people are now using the force’s website to report crimes and to spread police information.
