A sex attacker has finally been jailed, five years after assaulting a 14-year-old girl.

Sayed Noor, 30, assaulted his victim in Surrenden Road, Brighton, in 2006.

The day after the assault his victim saw him in the city centre and he was arrested, but he failed to turn up in court.

After two years the courts decided to try him in his absence and he was found guilty of sexual assault in February 2008.

Noor, of no fixed address, eventually came to police attention in October and was arrested and put before the courts. He has now been sentenced to six months in prison.

After hearing he had finally been jailed, Noor’s victim said: “I’m glad it’s all over.

“It was horrible at the time. I didn’t go out much and it was hard to trust people because of what happened.”

The girl’s mother added: “We were shocked after all this time he’d been found. After it happened it was scary for my daughter to go out; she was frightened that he would turn up again.”
