Police are investigating a burglary at a house near Haywards Heath.

The home in Stone Quarry Road, Chelwood Gate, was targeted overnight on Sunday/Monday.

Burglars entered the house and stole a number of items, including the car keys for the family Mini Cooper D parked on the driveway outside.

All other items stolen were later recovered from a neighbour's garden having been strewn across it. Detective Sergeant Andrew Harbour said: “We are keen to speak with anyone who may have seen or heard people or vehicles acting suspiciously in the area or who may have seen a beige colour Mini Cooper D with a LB07 prefix being driven erratically away from the location.

“We would also like to remind residents that as the nights draw in and darkness has often fallen before people are home from work, that a simple timed light could be the deterring factor in preventing a burglary at your home.”
