Bright green sheep have appeared grazing on the grass below a flyover.
The six woolly new arrivals on the roundabout close to the A27 in Shoreham have puzzled councillors, who say they have no idea who put them there.
Adur District Council leader Neil Parkin said: “We know nothing about them.
“One of my colleagues said she nearly crashed when she saw them.”
Fellow district councillor Brian Coomber suggested the sheep could be part of a drive to brighten up the entrance to the South Downs National Park.
He said: “To be honest, I really don’t know who is behind this.
“But we’ll certainly be making calls to find out where these green sheep came from.”
