Southern railway awarded for "best loos"

Southern railway has the best on board loos in the UK.

The railway service scooped three prizes at the National Loo of the Year Awards ceremony held in Birmingham on Friday.

Its Class 377 Electrostar trains won the National Award for the best on-train loos and Lewes railway station won the National Award for best toilets.

One of the judges said he was made extremely welcome at both Lewes and Worthing stations. Worthing railway station toilets earned a four-star rating.

I assume their trains which don't actually have any loos weren't up for the award.
Agree with the Lewes loos though - they're not bad at all.

Glad to read about this! How about re-introducing them to the Brighton to Portsmouth line. Not all stations have loos and for those people who have health problems, it can be extremely distressing to know that they cannot use facilities for a length of time.

If you go to the "National Loo Awards" site ( http://www.loo.co.uk ) you'll see there's about 200 "winners" in a plethora of categories..... sounds rather like every business that paid to enter the awards got a prize to me...

All that money spent revamping the loos at Lewes recently was worth it then. And if the on-board loos won an award, I dread to think what loos on other trains are like; something out of Dehli I guess
