Trevor Love has helped thousands of happy couples tie the knot, but never thought he would find love himself.
But Mr Love has now found his very own Mr Right.
Mr Love, one of Brighton and Hove Register Office’s most popular registrars because of his romantic-sounding name, celebrated his own civil partnership to partner Josh Munoz after a whirlwind romance.
Many people would not want to be married at their workplace, but Mr Love even interrupted colleague Debra Reynolds as she officiated over his ceremony at Hove Town Hall.
Mr Love and Mr Munoz then celebrated by going ice skating at the Royal Pavilion in front of their friends.
Mr Love said: “Since I started this job people have always commented on my name and people always ask me if I’m married, but I never thought it would happen.
“With the thousands of other civil partnerships I have done I just never ever thought it would happen to me, because I had never met a person I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.
“But the first time I met Josh I knew it was something different.
“It is actually the first time since I was a child that I have been really excited about Christmas, and that’s because I’ll be spending it with Josh.”
Celebration
Mr Love said that after seeing so many other ceremonies he was in no doubt about what he wanted for his big day and even managed to keep the big day a secret from most of his work colleagues.
He said: “I knew exactly what I wanted, I wanted something quite simple.
“I wanted to do things a little bit different.
“Rather than just having a meal, we had canapes and lots of Champagne then went on the ice.
“Part of my job is to calm people’s nerves. But for two days before I was really quite grumpy and actually very nervous.
“During the ceremony I interrupted my colleague Debra and I had to apologise.”
Valerie Pearce, head of city services for Brighton and Hove City Council, said: “I am full of admiration for Trevor and the way he helps everyone feel special on their big day.
“I am very pleased to hear his good news. I wish Trevor and Josh every happiness for the future.”
