Albion's £36 million plans to push for Premiership
9:43am Monday 2nd January 2012 in News By Neil Vowles
Brighton and Hove Albion officials hope expanding their stadium and building a new training facility will prepare the club for a push for the Premier League.
Today The Argus can exclusively reveal the designs for the club’s proposed £22 million training ground at Lancing bosses believe will turn out the next generation of Albion stars.
The state-of-the-art facilities – inspired by top clubs across the country – will lay the foundations for what chief executive Martin Perry described as “an assault on the Premier League”, alongside the expan- sion of American Express Community Stadium.
The club has sent plans to Brighton and Hove City Council for an extra 8,000 seats to be added at the Amex, as well as a new luxury suite, more corporate boxes and new television facilities.
Albion take on Southampton today desperate for a win to take the club back into the top half of the Championship and Mr Perry said the £36 million proposals marked an exciting time in its history.
And he called on fans to back the club’s proposals with the same enthusiasm as they backed the Seagulls’ long-running bid for a new ground.
Read the full story and the view the plans in The Argus today.

It's all very encouraging. All we need now is a team capable of getting into the premier league and a manager capable of building such a team. We seem to be a long way off from having either of those two things.

I just hope these 'big name signings' are are of a higher quality than the dross the present manager has bought since the summer. It would be a huge step forward if new coaching staff included a new manager.

"dross"?? What on earth are you on about!!? We brought in some quality players and just need 3/4 more including a new keeper and the replacements for Bennett and Murray we badly need. I do believe Poyet needs to adjust his thinking a little bit on the style of play because the passing the ball between keeper and defender thing just isn't cutting it in the champ!
How you can be so negative is beyond me. Are you saying nothing but promotion to the Premier league is good enough this year?!! Ridiculous.

You really think that Vicente, Harley and Hoskins are good signings? Promotion is a complete non starter and I didn't really expect it, but a relegation dog fight is a very real possibility. Considering the amount of money that has been spent on players this is not acceptable. This, together with the quality players who have been allowed to leave; Davies, Sandaza, Murray, Crofts, Elliot and Poyet's seeming inability to sign decent replacements and a truly dismal run of results then I think questioning the present manager's tenure is perfectly in order.

my worry out of all of this is we now only 11 points from relegation zone and heading that way fast , they will catch up, cos things they not just working ... GUS WE NEED A KEEPER, AND A CENTRE FORWARD """""NOW"""""..
. we wont need the seats in div 1..
Casper is proven at this level and like with all humans, can improve.
If a fantastic keeper became available then fair enough but not just for the sake of change.

"Brighton trying to copy the mighty Saints with a big stadium and state of the art training ground".
Good luck today, you will need it. My bet is you will have at least one player sent off, probably before half time.
Up the Saints.

Last season you got promoted into the most competitive league in europe!!! You can't just expect back to back promotions.
Yes, recent form is a little worrying, and the gap at the bottom is closing, but your still not far from the playoffs!!!
Big things are happening at the club, but success doesn't happen over night!!

You shouldn't even be in this league competing with us, let alone competing with us in Div 1 whilst we were at the Withdean.

And yes, fretlassbass, let's have some input from you after the result. The boys did brilliantly, including the much maligned Harley - came on, took a corner, goal. One assist in one minute. Not bad in my book.
One more question for you. In your current profession, did you know everything after a couple of years, and never make a mistake? Gus is learning what to do, and also what not to do, so cut him some slack. Considering our position some before he took over, I would say he is very much the man for the future.
Exciting times ahead, and I expect the Amex to be rocking with 30,000 in 2012/2013.

I've also heard good things about some Jan/Summer targets. Put it this way, we won't need to worry about getting bums on seats next season.
