AS MANY Brightonians know, Smash EDO has been campaigning against EDO, a company operating from a factory in Moulsecoomb which builds bomb release units.

These are used in Iraq, Palestine and across the world, and have been for many years.

We want to invite the people of Brighton and Hove to join our upcoming march against the threat of an attack on Iran on Monday, June 4.

As the noise for an attack on Iran gets louder, readers may well remember that the invasion of Iraq was justified by “weapons of mass destruction”, which later failed to materialise.

In fact, those lobbying for war against Iran are doing so to cement US control of resources and US political domination of the Middle-East – much the same motives as for the attack on Iraq.

If Iran is attacked, weapons components made in Brighton at this EDO factory will almost certainly be used.

We are hoping many of you will decide it’s worth spending your free afternoon on the bank holiday making it clear we do not intend for such a deadly farce to be repeated.

This is an occasion for the whole family and the whole community to resist the threat of an attack on Iran.

Contrary to various allegations, this has nothing to do with the Diamond Jubilee; it is simply an afternoon when most people will be free and able to make their feelings felt.

We have no desire to cause more disruption to the city than is absolutely necessary.

For all these reasons, we would like to announce our intended march route to the people of Brighton and Hove.

We will have a rally outside Barclays Bank from noon before walking up North Street, past Churchill Square and along Western Road and Church Road, before having a rally outside Hove Town Hall.
