The initial line-up for this year’s Pride parade in Brighton has been unveiled.
The free annual LGBT Pride parade features motorised floats with musical performances.
It is one of the highlights of the event and last year attracted more than 100,000 spectators who lined the streets from the start point at Madeira Drive all the way to the ticketed concert in Preston Park. Tickets for this year’s concert are currently on sale at an “early bird” price of £8.50.
The offer will end on Saturday and revert to the standard price of £12.50. This year £1 from every ticket sale at Pride is being donated to charity.
In 2011, the parade was made up of 55 entries, from walking groups to the allsinging all-dancing themed floats.
Pride Brighton & Hove has chosen the United Colours of Pride as the parade theme and the organiser says entries are coming in thick and fast from companies wanting to be a part of the action on September 1.
Pride Brighton & Hove director Trevor Edwards said: “It is amazing to see such a diverse range of organisations big and small coming on board as part of the 2012 Pride Parade.
“I would encourage any other organisation wanting to be involved in the parade to act now as we now have limited space and we don’t want people to be disappointed.”
Entries to the parade close on Friday, July 6. Call 01273 257225 or email hello@pridebrighton.org.
