Chief executive leaves Sussex Beacon

Chief executive leaves Sussex Beacon Chief executive leaves Sussex Beacon

A charity chief executive is stepping down after four years in the post.

Kat Williams has left the Sussex Beacon in Brighton with immediate effect.

The reason for her departure from the charity, which supports people with HIV/Aids is not yet known.

Simon Burgess, chairman of the charity's trustees, said: “The trustees are very grateful to Kat Williams.

“She showed great compassion and commitment in this complex and challenging role. During her time with us she successfully expanded the charity's services and events.

“Our charity like so many others has been facing tough financial challenges but this year's Brighton Half Marathon was our biggest fundraiser ever and the community have been increasingly rallying round to help us.

“We wish Kat well with her future career.”

Simon Dowe has been appointed interim chief executive while the hunt for a permanent replacement takes place.

Ms Williams was said to be on holiday and unavailable for comment.

"The reason for her departure from the charity...is not yet known." - Siobhan Ryan, instead of just cutting and pasting this press release, why didn't you ASK HER the reason why she stepped down? If she declined to give one you could say that in the article.

Yeah, but that would require 'journalism' rather than just printing anything that someone sends in. And THAT costs money. Not to mention requiring intelligent inquiring minds and journalists.

Setting aside her reasons, is this REALLY a news story? Person resigns from job??

It might have been news, if the reason for the resignation was due to her embezzling funds to run an illicit llama farm in Peru. BUT THIS IS THE ONE QUESTION SIOBHAN RYAN DID NOT ASK. #journalism_fail.

I think that is politespeak for "is guilty as sin of some unmentionable act and doesn't wish to defend herself because she has no defence so is hiding instead."

How fortunate that she had booked a holiday before resigning "with immediate effect" from her position. Far be it from me to suggest that there is anything nefarious going on.

But, the only way we are ever going to truly know is if she tells us, and since she clearly has no intention of doing so we are plainly stuffed, aren't we?

Why would the fact that she's not at her desk working there mean she's not available for comment? SHE DOESN'T WORK THERE ANY MORE! So she will never be "available for comment" via that route!

Has Siobhan Ryan not the wit to get the Argus to pay for her to follow Ms Williams to her holiday resort and get an in-depth scoop from her, whilst sipping Pina Colladas on a lilo?

No doubt she was being paid a salary from the charity that looked like a telephone number and will receive a similarly large 'severance payment'. Not to mention being found another well paid position within the charity/qango/public sector merry-go-round.

Yes, lets assume that her silence is an admission of guilt and libel both her and the charity. Who will help me construct the gallows?

Excuse me please. This is to all of the above "commenters" passing libellous comments about this article. Kat has been a fantastic Chief executive of the Beacon and deserves thanks and praise for all of her excellent work. The long hours of work (at the office and at home) and the dedication to the charity have been extraordinary. As with most local charities she did not receive a "telephone number" salary and she has not been given a massive golden handshake. For all those sad people with nothing better to do than berate people they know nothing of I would recommend you get off your high horses and do something useful with your time. Which is exactly what Kat has been doing for the Beacon. I wish her a restful break from the strain of charity work.

no doubt - you know nothing about this story apart from the negativity that clearly dominates you. If you have anything relevant to say... Oh yes you haven't.

With an attitude like yours it's no wonder you're livin on the streets is it? Are you just jealous she ever had a job?

Maybe Kat should go down the route of asking the high court to gain access to the trolls info on here posting libellous comments and pursue litigation.
You really are a desperate person to post vile comments about a woman who works for a charity.
What horrible weirdos and woman haters you must be. I hope you haven't got kids.
