A new football season is here: the Amex stadium is magnificent and the Albion are starting to play well.

It’s a shame, however, about the bus services to and from the stadium – particularly from Rottingdean.

We waited for more than an hour for a Rottingdean bus before the Barnsley game on Saturday, August 25, and then had to walk to the Amex as none came.

I was told afterwards it was because the Rottingdean buses filled up in the village and then drove straight up Falmer Road to the Amex.

There are still only four buses for the route, despite a big increase in fans travelling.

This is not good enough for the dozens left waiting from the bottom of Cowley Drive all the way through Woodingdean.

We pay for bus travel as part of our season ticket and the club is encouraging people not to have to use their own cars.

Walking is not a viable option for many and is not acceptable, particularly when transport has been paid for.

So, the stadium gets 10/10, the Albion get 9/10 but the Rottingdean bus service gets 0/10.

We keep getting told to use the bus to go to the Amex.

We even get charged a supplement on our ticket for travel voucher.

Some good it is, though. For the Barnsley game I thought I would give the bus a try instead of driving.

I got to a bus stop in Carden Avenue at 1.40pm. Buses were due at 1.45pm, 1.55pm and 2.05pm. Myself and about 18 other people ended up waiting until 2.10pm.

When we eventually got on, some people had to pay for travel again. It’s time for the Albion and the bus companies involved in travel arrangements to sort things out.
