This town crier banged his drum and blew his bugle to help save a cherished church hall.
Simon Pascoe will be keeping residents updated every Saturday afternoon with news of a campaign to keep Brighton’s Exeter Street Hall in community use.
The performance artist donned a traditional costume and marched through the streets, followed by a group of young supporters.
Mr Pascoe said: “I’m just doing my bit with the skills I have – being a loud-mouthed fool.
“The hall is such a fantastic opportunity to create this living hub and the legacy is enormous. It’s a unique chance for people to be part of a really cooperative community venture – so I urge people to buy a share.”
Mr Pascoe will be appearing again on Saturday, September 22 between 5pm and 7pm.
On Friday, September 14 a share issue to save the hall was launched with the support of Brighton Pavilion MP Caroline Lucas.
All the details of how to buy a share can be found at www.exeterstreethall.org or by calling 01273 252934.
