A woman who claims she was sexually assaulted by Sir Jimmy Savile has said she feels responsible for his other victims.

Dee Coles, from Brighton, said she felt compelled to speak out after hearing other women claim that theTVpresenter abused them.

Ms Coles, 55, said she was 14 years old when Savile sexually assaulted her on two occasions in a caravan at a holiday camp in Jersey.

After allegations against Savile first emerged at the weekend Ms Coles, who had never spoken about what happened to her, said she feared that her silence could have paved the way for more victims.

She told The Argus: “I never reported it at the time.

“I considered what happened to me was a one off. I didn’t think anyone would believe me.

“Then when the story broke at the weekend I thought that’s exactly what I went through.

“Then I felt this whole new emotion that I hadn’t expected – that all of these other women were sexually abused by Jimmy Savile because I didn’t come forward.”

The Jim’ll Fix It presenter locked Ms Coles and a friend in his caravan and sexually assaulted them on two occasions during the summer of 1972.

Since then she has kept her silence.

She said: “I think if it had been an uncle or someone I would have had to see every Sunday I would have said something.

“Because it seemed like such a one off I didn’t say anything.

“I thought, ‘Who would believe me, that this superstar had sexually assaulted me?’.

“I had to lock it away, but it is hard with all this stuff coming up and bringing it back.

“I wanted to speak up to try and prevent other children being abused.

“If you know that your neighbour or brother or whoever is doing something like this you must report it. We all need to take responsibility.”
