PETER Orpen - a director and founder of AVT Connect based at Stone Street, Brighton - has retired after more than 40 years.
He was instrumental in the company’s evolution from a traditional AV supplier in 1975 to what is now a global provider for meetings and the latest in interactive events utilising iPad technology.
He bowed out with late summer drinks and a sunset flight on the BA i360, having witnessed its gradual construction from his office window at AVT’s headquarters in the city.
Peter said: "What a journey. I’m delighted to leave the senior management and company in such a strong position, responsive to meet the challenges and demands of today’s meetings and technology environment.
"I’ve always been surrounded by innovative, creative and hard-working colleagues and fortunate to be in Brighton with so many talented people on the doorstep.
"The views from the i360 were stunning and celebrate our Event360 concept, giving clients the ability to maximise ROI on their events."
AVT Connect has grown into a full service event agency and interactive technology partner for leading global brands, with a wide range of experience across multiple sectors including healthcare, finance and automotive.
The company has produced more than 300 online events in the last ten years, extending the reach of the traditional event format.
