An international digital business is creating scores of jobs.
Internet infrastructure specialists Dyn has opened its European, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) office in Brighton. The base at Aspect House in Queen’s Road is the firm’s first non-US operation. Bosses at the company, whose clients include social media giant Twitter, say they chose Brighton as its base due to the vibrant status of the city’s existing digital industry. Dyn, which has headquarters in Boston, USA, works with clients to ensure that websites are efficient, and that email messages actually reach the user’s inbox.
Phil Akilade, Dyn’s EMEA director, said that the city is alive with companies that share his passion for the Internet. The firm employs nine people at Aspect House, and Mr Akilade said he hoped to have 25 people on board by June, with more than 100 employed at the end of the year.
He said: “Brighton offers great geographical, cultural and financial opportunities for us – easy access to London and internationally through Gatwick, together with great access to local businesses, many of whom we could work with. Dyn culture is all about blending Internet tech with real people while having fun.”
Phil Jones, chief executive at Wired Sussex, a Brighton-based membership organisation for firms in the digital, media and technology sector, said: “It’s great news and adds to Brighton’s rapidly growing reputation as one of the UK’s most significant digital, media and technology hubs.
“I think that the creativity and innovation that is so much a part of this city’s DNA means that for Dyn, as has been the case for so many companies working in our sector, coming here will feel like coming home.”
As part of the UK launch Dyn regularly host “music meets tech” events to get to know local businesses and showcase areas of expertise. The firm will hold its launch party at Bohemia in Meeting House Lane tomorrow.
