A MAN has been jailed for 19 months for punching his ex-partner.

Robert Mansfield, formerly of St Leonards, pleaded guilty to three charges of breaching a restraining order, causing actual bodily harm and assault on the woman when he appeared at Lewes Crown Court on September 25.

The court heard that after the victim and Mansfield had separated he followed her around Hastings and punched her in the face when she had refused to talk to him.

Sentencing Mansfield, Judge Lawson said: “Your record is one of the worst I have seen for anti-social behaviour.

“Relationships with others are better if you don’t thump them.”

After the case, Detective Constable Carol Shoesmith said: “The victim was brave in coming forward to report the matter and supporting the investigation.”
