Police have closed the B2110 to traffic west of Handcross following a fatal car crash.

The closure, between Handcross village and The Wheatsheaf Pub at Ashfold Crossways, is expected to be in force until at least 3pm.

A grey Ford Focus car was found in a field near Truckers Ghyll, having collided with a tree and left the road. The man driving the car has died.

The Argus:

The incident was reported to police at 11.20am today (Friday).

But Sergeant Mark Baker, of the Sussex road policing unit, said: "It is thought possible the collision, involving just this one vehicle, may have occurred late last night or in the early hours of today.

"Anyone who saw what happened or who may have other information is asked to email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk or phone 101, quoting Operation Bexley."
