A BOY and a man are in custody on suspicion of stealing cash and alcohol from a wine bar.
The incident happened at the Chapter 12 wine bar in Hailsham High Street in the early hours of this morning.
Two arrests were made shortly afterwards and a 16-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man are currently in police custody, being held on suspicion of burglary.
Sergeant Mark Ritchie said: "Hailsham High Street has suffered from a recent spate of burglaries to commercial premises and we have increased patrols in response, which has resulted in this swift and successful action.
"We are still appealing for witnesses to the incident, and would particularly like to hear from anyone who saw a white Transit van performing a u-turn in the High Street at around 1am on Thursday."
