A man arrested on suspicion of murder was tonight released on police bail.
Colin Gale, 38, was questioned by detectives investigating the disappearance of bomb disposal expert Mark Manning.
Mr Manning, 54, of Brighton Road, Lancing, went missing after reportedly being dropped off at Worthing railway station by a friend on April 19 last year.
The father-of-two was never seem again and his body has not been found.
Sussex Police launched a murder investigation last June.
Mr Gale, a friend of Mr Manning, was arrested on suspicion of murder on Wednesday.
Meanwhile officers were searching Becket Motor Works, in Littlehampton Road, Worthing, as part of the investigation.
A Mercedes car was removed from the garage as part of the search.
Mr Gale has been bailed until June 25.
Detectives are still keen to hear from anyone with information about Mr Manning's disappearance. They should call Sussex Police on 101 or email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting Operation Light.
