A man has been attacked and robbed by two Asian men after a night out in Brighton.

The victim was relieving himself in Grenville Street, close to the entrance to Churchill Square for vehicles, when he was attacked from behind by two men.

He was grabbed by the throat and held against the wall before the men knocked him to the ground and repeatedly kicked him in the stomach.

The attackers then grabbed his small black bag from his shoulder, containing an iPhone and a small amount of cash.

The 22-year-old victim suffered cuts and bruises.

The first attacker was Asian, about 5' 7" and of big build. He was wearing glasses, a grey jumper and jeans.

The second attacker was Asian, about 5' 7" and of average build. He was wearing a black t-shirt, black jeans and black shoes.

Detective Constable Sophie Tullett: "This was a vicious attack on a man on his own.

"The men responsible took the opportunity to attack their victim while his back was turned and have left him with nasty injuries.

"We need to speak to anyone who was in West Street, in particular the area around the Churchill Square entrace at about 1am on Saturday who could have seen the attack happen of the men running off afterwards.

"If you know anything at all, please get in touch."

The attack happened at about 1am on Saturday (May 9). Sussex Police has only today released details of the incident.
