A SEX offender has been given a suspended prison sentence after he failed to tell authorities that he was going abroad.
Lewis Ian Barnett, 40, of Princes Road, Eastbourne, was convicted of failing to comply with the notification requirements of the Sexual Offences Act 2003.
He was given a prison sentence of eight weeks suspended for 12 months, and ordered to do 80 hours' unpaid work.
Barnett was also ordered to pay £80 victim surcharge and £600 costs.
He had denied the offence but was convicted at Eastbourne Magistrates' Court on February 10, and sentenced at Hastings Magistrates' Court on June 7.
