A man has been arrested after a car drove directly at police and nearly ran over a pedestrian.
On Wendesday June 8 the car headed straight at police officers in in a marked patrol car at 3.40pm, in Leylands Road, Burgess Hill, near the junction with Noel Rise.
It narrowly missed a pedestrian after mounting a pavement and then sped off before later being found abandoned.
After driving off, the car - a black Renault Megane - was found abandoned in St Mary's Road, Burgess Hill, with a damaged front wheel and punctured tyre.
A 27-year-old man from Burgess Hill has been arrested on suspicion of driving while disqualified and other motoring offences and bailed until August 25 pending further enquiries.
Police are now appealing for witness to come forward, particularly the man who was forced to lean into shrubbery to avoid the car when it drove onto the path.
Anyone with information is asked to email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or phone 101 quoting serial 1104 of June 8.
