More than half the motorists arrested during a summer crackdown on drink and drug-driving have now been convicted, Sussex Police have revealed.

The force ran a dedicated campaign to those driving illegally over the limit between June 6 and July 10.

As part of Operation Dragonfly, a total of 205 drink and drug-driving related arrests were made in Sussex, of which 127 have now been convicted and sentenced at court.

Here are the latest court results:

Gavin Mackenzie, 36, a carpenter, of Ruskin Road, Worthing, was arrested on the A26 at Lewes on 9 June and charged with driving with 8mcg of cannabis per litre of blood in his system.

At Brighton Magistrates’ Court on 25 August, he was disqualified from driving for 12 months. He was also ordered to pay a £200 fine, £40 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Keval Ravalya, 21, a shop worker, of Barley Close, Crawley, was arrested in Smalls Mead, Crawley, on 11 June and charged with driving with 115mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood in his system.

He pleaded guilty at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on 23 August and was disqualified from driving for 14 months. He was also ordered to pay a £350 fine, £85 costs and a £35 victim surcharge.

Richard Mayberry, 29, a mechanic, of Beaumont Park, Littlehampton, was arrested in Beaumont Park, Littlehampton, on 16 June and charged with driving with 8mcg of cannabis per litre of blood in his system.

He pleaded guilty at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on 25 August and was disqualified from driving for 12 months. He was also ordered to pay a £300 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Chelsea Ware, 22, an estate agent, of Cooden Sea Road, Bexhill, was arrested in Holliers Hill, Bexhill, on 16 June and charged with driving with 9mcg of cannabis per litre of blood in her system.

She pleaded guilty at Hastings Magistrates’ Court on 17 August and was disqualified from driving for 12 months. She was also ordered to pay a £120 fine, £40 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

David Feeney, 33, a hotel employee, of Offington Avenue, Worthing, was arrested in Offington Avenue, Worthing, on 17 June, and charged with driving with 5.6mcg of cannabis per litre of blood in his system and failing to surrender to custody.

He pleaded guilty at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on 23 August and was disqualified from driving for 12 months. He was also ordered to pay a £130 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Tinashe Nengoma, 37, a builder, of Langney Road, Eastbourne, was arrested on the A27 at Pevensey on 17 June and charged with failing to provide a specimen for analysis.

He pleaded guilty at Eastbourne Magistrates’ Court on 17 August and was disqualified from driving for 12 months. He was also ordered to pay a £900 fine and a £90 victim surcharge.

Matthew Tutty, 18, a carpenter, of Hawkswood Drive, Hailsham, was arrested in Diplocks Way, Hailsham, on 17 June and charged with driving with 10mcg of cannabis per litre of blood in his system.

He pleaded guilty at Hastings Magistrates’ Court on 24 August and was disqualified from driving for 18 months. He was also ordered to pay a £130 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Carl Redfearn, 21, a car valeter, of Pepperscoombe Lane, Upper Beeding, was arrested in Brighton Road, Shoreham, on 18 June, and charged with driving with 5.3mcg of cannabis per litre of blood in his system, dangerous driving, possession of cannabis and failing to stop when required to do so by police.

He pleaded guilty at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on 11 August and was disqualified from driving for 24 months. He was also ordered to carry out 300 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months, and pay £85 costs and a £85 victim surcharge.

Kai Young, 30, a warehouseman, of Worth Road, Crawley, was arrested in Ifield Road, Crawley, on 18 June and charged with driving with 174mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood in his system.

He pleaded guilty at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on 23 August and was disqualified from driving for 20 months. He was also ordered to pay a £290 fine.

Philip Jones, 33, a shop manager, of Mead Lane, Buxted, was arrested at the South Terminal at Gatwick Airport on 19 June and charged with driving with 10mcg of cannabis per litre of blood in his system.

He pleaded guilty at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on 31 August and was disqualified from driving for 12 months. He was also ordered to pay a £255 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Nick Duckett, 23, a property developer, of Rusper Road, Crawley, was arrested in Pinova Close, Crawley, on 19 June and charged with driving with 2.6mcg of cannabis per litre of blood in his system.

He pleaded guilty at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on 23 August and was disqualified from driving for 12 months. He was also ordered to pay a £120 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Andrew Cozens, 31, a labourer, of Beaconsfield Road, Wick, was arrested in Highdown Drive, Littlehampton, on 19 June and charged with being in control of a vehicle with 9mcg of cannabis per litre of blood in his system.

He pleaded guilty at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on 23 August and was disqualified from driving for 12 months. He was also ordered to pay a £120 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Yinka Bamgboye, 63, a taxi driver, of New Park Road, London, was arrested in London Road, East Grinstead, on 20 June and charged with driving with 143mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood in his system.

He pleaded guilty at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on 25 August and was disqualified from driving for 17 months. He was also ordered to pay a £400 fine, £85 costs and a £40 victim surcharge.

Michelle Godwin, 37, a care assistant, of Mendip Road, Worthing, was arrested following a crash in Mendip Road, Worthing, on 22 June, and charged with driving with 115mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in her system and failing to stop after a road traffic collision.

She pleaded guilty at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on 30 August and was disqualified from driving for 28 months. She was also sentenced to a 12-month community order, and ordered to pay a £120 fine, £85 costs and a £85 victim surcharge.

Christopher Montgomery, 22, unemployed, of Furnace Wood, Uckfield, was arrested in Lewes Road, Brighton, on 22 June, and charged with driving with 4.8mcg of cannabis per litre of blood in his system and failing to surrender to custody.

He pleaded guilty at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on 16 August and was disqualified from driving for 12 months. He was also ordered to pay a £160 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Paul Cox, 51, a house husband, of Uckfield Road, Crowborough, was arrested on the A26 at Isfield on 24 June and charged with failing to provide a specimen for analysis while in charge of a vehicle.

He pleaded guilty at Eastbourne Magistrates’ Court on 25 August and had his driving licence endorsed with 10 points. He was also ordered to pay a £300 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Duane Knight, 26, a builder, of Alamein Close, Crowborough, was arrested in North Street, Hailsham, on 27 June and charged with driving with 2.9mcg of cannabis per litre of blood in his system.

He pleaded guilty at Hastings Magistrates’ Court on 24 August and was disqualified from driving for 36 months. He was also ordered to pay a £500 fine, £85 costs and a £50 victim surcharge.

Marius Zielinski, 34, a warehouseman, of Highams Hill, Crawley, was arrested in Pegler Way, Crawley, on 28 June, and charged with failing to provide a specimen for analysis, driving while disqualified and driving with no insurance.

He pleaded guilty at Horsham Magistrates’ Court on 18 August and was sentenced to 20 weeks in jail, suspended for 18 months. He was also disqualified from driving for 54 months, ordered to carry out 60 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months, and ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Hassan Alaani, 23, an electrician, of Princes Road, Eastbourne, was arrested in Lottbridge Drove, Eastbourne, on 28 June and charged with driving with 8mcg of cannabis per litre of blood in his system.

He pleaded guilty at Hastings Magistrates’ Court on 31 August and was disqualified from driving for 12 months. He was also ordered to pay a £300 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Anthony Dodds, 39, a builder, of Winchester Road, Worthing, was arrested in South Street, Worthing, on 30 June, and charged with driving while disqualified, and driving with 33mcg of cocaine, 567mcg of benzoylecgonine and 5.5mcg of cannabis per litre of blood in his system.

He pleaded guilty at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on 25 August and was disqualified from driving for 12 months. He was also ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months, and pay £85 costs and a £85 victim surcharge.

Lewis Elder, 21, unemployed, of Somerset Road, East Preston, was arrested in Old Worthing Road, East Preston, on 1 July and charged with driving with 7mcg of cannabis per litre of blood in his system.

He pleaded guilty at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on 25 August and was disqualified from driving for 12 months. He was also ordered to pay a £120 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Dariusz Chojnowski, 33, unemployed, of The Steyne, Bognor Regis, was arrested in The Steyne, Bognor Regis, on 4 July, and charged with driving with 73mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system and driving with no insurance.

He pleaded guilty at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on 23 August and was disqualified from driving for 18 months. He was also ordered to pay a £180 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.
