A FATHER is accused of threatening door staff with a smashed bottle and throwing a pint glass at a woman, after his card was declined when he tried to buy a round of drinks.
Anthony Fullerton, 55, faces charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, affray and criminal damage, after a fracas at The Quadrant pub in North Street, Brighton.
It is alleged that a pint glass struck customer Elisabetta Deidda to the rear of her head, causing a small wound which needed hospital treatment.
Fullerton, of Ardley Close, Lewisham, London, entered no plea at Brighton Magistrates Court on Monday.
The case has been committed to crown court for trial.
Chairman of the bench Robert Macrowan said: “These charges are so serious, we feel our powers, if found guilty, would not be enough to sentence you.
“This case has been sent to Lewes Crown Court on October 23. You should be there at 9am.
“I am putting you on unconditional bail.
“If you do not turn up you will be committing an offence you could be tried for.
“If you commit any offences while on bail it could be treated more seriously.”
