A FATHER booted down his girlfriend’s door after she threatened to kill his daughter.

Shanon Higgins-Lench, 21, of Harpers Road, Newhaven, had been arguing with his pregnant girlfriend, before he kicked down the door at her supported housing block.

He pleaded guilty to criminal damage at Brighton Magistrates Court on Monday.

The court heard Higgins-Lench had gone to Charlotte Bebee’s room at supported housing block The Foyer in Valley Road, Newhaven, on April 16.

But the couple had got into an argument and CCTV had shown Higgins-Lench leave the room, before going back violently kicking the locked door, so that it swung open.

Defending, Ed Fish, said: “Miss Bebee said she was going to kill his two-year-old daughter. After an argument he slammed the door behind him, then heard that comment and kicked the door. There was no suggestion he laid a finger on Miss Bebee. He left on his own accord.”

Magistrate Robert Macrownan gave Higgins-Lench a conditional discharge for a year and made him pay £50 compensation.
