SPONSORED BY WORTHING THEATRES Winner: Emily Carey EMILY Carey already has a bulging performing CV at the age of just ten.
In the last two years she has performed in Shrek the Musical in London and in the award-winning Sound of Music at Regents Park Open Air theatre.
The pupil from Hastings also won a national singing competition to follow in the footsteps of the original Matilda and have a song written for her as well as being asked to sing at the Olivier Awards at the Royal Albert Hall in April.
Emily said: “I’m really surprised that I actually won it because there were really tough contestants up against me.”
Going up on stage is nothing new to the ten-year-old, but the future West End star admitted her nerves were jangling when she went up to collect her award.
Emily said: “Well it was kind of scary, but I’ve got used to it now.”
This is just the beginning for Emily, and she’s going to be kept busy over the coming weeks and months. She added: “It’s really exciting. I’ve got lots of different bits and bobs coming up, but I’m waiting for something new.”
