Winner: St Wilfrid’s Catholic Primary School
CHILDREN from St Wilfrid’s Catholic Primary School spread Christmas cheer when they treated residents of Corbett Court to a singing celebration of carols.
The year six pupils, accompanied by their teacher Frances Novis, performed for the over-70s who live at the McCarthy and Stone development.
Mrs Novis said: “We’re amazed, really thrilled and delighted.
“And in fact this has made us really determined to keep the links we’ve made in the community very strong.
“We’ve got our Year 6 show coming up soon and we’re going to invite the residents from the care home to come along to either a dress rehearsal or the actual performance.”
Mrs Novis was joined on stage by deputy head boy Daniel Maher and deputy head girl Katie Barker to collect the award. Katie said: “It’s so important that we stay strong with the community around us and not just focus on our own little world.”
