A jeweller is running a raffle to help raise funds for an eight-year-old battling a rare form of cancer.

Vivienne Ridley is raising money for Niamh Storey-Davidson from Preston Park, Brighton, who was diagnosed with a Wilms’ tumour in 2012 after doctors discovered a lump the size of a rugby ball on her left kidney.

Custom-made jewellery, a stone carving, art prints and various vouchers are all up for grabs to help raise the funds to send Niamh to take part in drugs trials being developed abroad.

The urgent campaign was launched to help Niamh last month and more than £20,000 has already been raised.

The youngster has almost exhausted all the treatments available to her in Britain.

Her best hope is to take part in trials being developed abroad but these are expensive and her family need to make sure they have the money before signing up. Niamh has had more than 70 weeks of chemotherapy, three major operations, a stem cell transplant and radiotherapy but the cancer returned earlier this year.

Her parents Gilli and Adam are in talks with centres in America and Britain to keep up with the latest drug trials and developments while trying to raise the money needed.

Friends, family and Niamh’s classmates have held fundraising and awareness events. The latest was an end-of-term party in Preston Park on July 30.

The event raised £850 which was donated through the Virgin Giving Money page, topped only by an anonymous donation of £1,000.
