YOUNG performers had a whale of a time as they finished the academic year in style.

Having had confirmation that the school had successfully pulled themselves out special measures after a positive Ofsted report, headteacher at Telscombe Cliffs Primary School Darren Vallier decided to mark the occasion with a production.

The Year 5 and 6 students worked hard to put on the musical Jonah and the Whale, and the performances were very well received by parents and the school community.

Mr Vallier, who wrote the show with Mike Davies, has seen Jonah performed many times before but was particularly impress by this production.

He said: “The standard of the performance was incredibly high. The singing was excellent and the acting was incredibly professional.

“It was a fitting way to end a very positive year.”

Jonah was also the first performance to take place under the school's new lighting system with many more productions and concert evenings already planned.
