FINLAY Davis and Kyle Masters were the stars of the show as Brighton and Hove Cricket Club Under-12s put East Grinstead to the sword with a huge victory.

Brighton and Hove registered a massive 130-run win in the Sussex Junior Cricket Festival Under-12 Division C Bowl at Fonthill School Ground on Friday.

Captain Alfie Harrison liked the look of the pitch and after winning the toss asked East Grinstead to have a bowl.

Brighton and Hove did not get off to the greatest of starts with Harrison run out for 8 and his opening partner Felix Sheppard clean bowled for 19 by Andrew Burns.

This brought Davis and Masters to the crease and the pair shared a mammoth 128-run partnership for the third wicket.

Masters was eventually bowled by Andre Kane for 74 and Davis carried his bat for 70 after he was joined by Matthew Riches (17 not out) to finish 211-3 off their 35 overs.

East Grinstead got off to the worst possible start when Toby Varney was bowled by Alex Crawford for a duck and the scoreboard reading a depressing 0-1.

Crawford followed his first over up by knocking over the middle order of Harry Hainge (2) and Reid Jenden (9).

Skipper Jay Stow joined Andre Kane at the crease and set about rebuilding the East Grinstead innings.

Disaster struck again for Grinstead when Kane was run out for 14 and the writing was on the wall when Stow fell for 22.

With Jack Gardener and Dorian Cottam bowling, Louis Maxwell, Owen Melody and Anna Wills were all bowled for 0 to leave Grinstead 41-7.

Andrew Burns was the next to go for 6 when he was caught by Harrison off the bowling of Matthew Riches and the last wicket went to Kyle Masters as Ned Rowland was caught for 3 leaving Joshua Varney not out on 5.
