PRESTON Nomads Cricket Club’s Under-12s outplayed Pagham Cricket Club to claim a winning draw in the Sussex Junior Cricket Festival Under-12 Division A Bowl.

Nomads posted 143 thanks to a magnificent 66 by Alex Hunt and Pagham could only crawl to 115-5 from 33 overs.

Both Nomads openers were back in the pavilion with the scoreboard reading 3-2.

Bist was the first to strike when he trapped Daniel Ibrahim lbw for 1 and Rex Williams followed, bowled for a duck by Aidan Drake.

Hunt kept his composure in check as Bist struck twice to remove Toby Shepperson for 12 and George Mercer for 9.

Fred Butcher was caught by Theo Beynon-Ayres for 9 and both Tomas Smith (7) and Ned Sullivan (1) clung on for 11 balls.

Finally, after hitting 11 fours in his 66, the impressive Hunt was bowled by Drake and Nomads were bowled out for 143 leaving Ollie Read unbeaten on 9.

In reply, Pagham lost Bradley Young for a duck when he was bowled by George Mercer.

The score ticked along to 58 before Nomads claimed their second wicket of the day as Tomas Smith bowled skipper Bist for 48.

And the win was inevitable for Nomads as the batting team closed 28 runs behind the total.
