A BUDDING ballet dancer aced her audition for a place on the Centre for Advanced Training’s scheme for contemporary dance.
Maya Richardson from Year 7 at Lancing College Prep School in Hove was thrilled when she found out she had been successful last month. The scheme is a national intensive dance programme for ten to 18-year-olds who display exceptional potential and passion for dance.
More than 100 young people between the ages of 11 and 14 auditioned for a place in a select group of 15 pupils from Brighton, who will now follow weekly dance classes, choreography workshops, theatre trips and local and national performances at Trinity Laban or The Place in London.
This is the third year that she has been studying Contemporary Dance with Sandra Barber and it is the first time a pupil from Lancing College Prep has been accepted onto this scheme.
A school spokeswoman said: “We are delighted and wish her continued success.”
