A GP practice has been praised by inspectors.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) gave Henfield Medical Centre an overall rating of good following an inspection last month.

The practice was given individual ratings of good for its care, leadership, safety, effectiveness and responsiveness.

The inspection in April followed a previous visit in October when inspectors said the surgery’s safety required improvement.

Following the first inspection the practice drew up an action plan detailing what it would do to meet some of its legal requirements.

This included ensuring the safe and proper management of medicines in order to protect patients against the risk of unsafe care and treatment.

The practice also needed to review the way it assessed, detected and controlled the spread of infections.

Other improvements included reviewing the practice’s complaints process to make sure information was provided to the person involved so they could escalate a complaint should they remain dissatisfied.

The CQC found in its follow up inspection the practice had made all the necessary improvements and subsequently upgraded its safety rating.
