AN inspirational four-year-old was all smiles as he joined a walk honouring his brave fight against a rare form of cancer.

Max Cooper has impressed his family and friends with his strength and determination as he undergoes treatment for Hodgkin lymphoma.

Just a day after the youngster finished his second round of treatment, he joined up with 45 people for a sponsored walk from King Alfred Leisure Centre in Hove to Brighton Marina.

The event on Saturday was organised by Max’s older sister Jamie Slaughter, 15, who was determined to do what she could to help her brother.

She said: “I wanted something that everyone could get involved with and this seemed like the best idea.

“It’s been really good today and we’ve had friends from my school, family and Max’s nursery all taking part.

“I’m really pleased so many people have come along.”

Max’s mother Ashleigh Cresdee, 30, from Brighton said he really enjoyed the day.

She said: “He has been very excited about it all and so proud that everyone is out here doing this for him.

“He’s a bit more tired after this second round of chemotherapy than he was from the first but he still has a big smile on his face.

“Max is an inspiration to us all because when we see how brave and positive he can be, then so can we.

“He loves his family and Jamie is a very important figure in his life so knowing she organised this walk has made it even more special for him.”

Max, who goes to Rudyard Kipling nursery in Woodingdean, is due to start school in September and several fundraising events have been arranged to give him the chance to do the things he wants most.

A GoFundMe page set up by his mother to pay for the youngster to go to Disneyland Paris has already smashed its £3,000 target.

However, people are continuing to donate just to help the youngster out with more treats

Jamie, who goes to Blatchington Mill school, is giving half the money she raises to Max, and the other half to the Children with Cancer charity.

She said: “When I found out about Max’s diagnosis I just felt lost.

“I didn’t know how he was going to cope, but he has been amazing. He’s so crazy and funny and still full of energy. He’s really helped us pull through it. Everyone has been doing charity events so I wanted to do something to help my brother.”
