A WIDOW has donated £1000 to a hospital ward which cared for her late husband.

Doreen Payne returned to Pevensey Ward at the Eastbourne DGH to present the money.

She said it was in recognition of the care and support staff gave her late husband of 62 years. David.

He died in December 2017 and Doreen went back to thank the ward team with a donation collected from family and friends of her late husband.

She said: “I, and my family, wanted to donate the money we raised to the wonderful doctors and nurses on Pevensey Ward for the care and support they gave my loving husband of 62 years.”

Pevensey Ward Sister Janice Talent said: it was good to see Doreen again.

She said: “Doreen is being very brave following the loss of her husband David.

“We are very grateful to her and her family for their generous donation which will go to fund training and support for the ward team.”
