SIX fire engines and four four-wheel drive vehicles were sent to tackle a fire in a field.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were called to Ridge Road, Falmer, after receiving an emergency call at 12.52pm on Wednesday.
The grass was alight and the smoke could be seen from Lewes.
Firefighters spent just over three hours putting out the flames.
A fire service spokesman said there were no reports of any injuries.
