A 69-year-old man is cycling the whole length of Great Britain to raise money for charity.
Robert Hughes, from Burgess Hill, is undertaking the 874 miles from Land’s End in Cornwall to John O’Groats in north eastern Caithness, Scotland.
Mr Hughes is fundraising for Marie Curie, which was a great support to him and his family during the latter stages of his first wife’s terminal cancer.
He is also raising money for Age Concern Hassocks where he has volunteered since he retired, driving the mini bus so residents can attend the day centre lunch club and go on out on outings.
He said: “My challenge is to prove I can still do it before I reach the grand old age of 70 next year. I will not be trying to beat any records but doing this trip at a fairly leisurely pace with rest days built into the schedule.”
