HOUSEBUILDER CALA Homes (South Home Counties) Ltd has started work on its new development of 51 homes, off Hammonds Ridge in Burgess Hill.

The scheme, to be known as Hammonds Gate, received planning approval from Mid Sussex District Council in January.

Preparatory works have now begun to clear the site and ready it for construction.

Once complete, the development will include 51 one, two, three and four bedroom properties, with 16 (31 per cent) of those properties allocated as affordable housing, giving people in the area a genuine opportunity to access the property ladder.

As well as new homes, the site will also deliver other benefits to residents and the wider community.

Next to the CALA site is land owned by the council, which is currently allocated for community use.

As part of the work on the development, CALA will provide an entry point to this land for future use, as the site is currently inaccessible.

CALA will be contributing more than £600,000 to enhance local community services, as part of the Section 106 agreement.

The homes in Burgess Hill will be taking inspiration from the character of the local area and using a high quality palette of materials.

Daniel Webber, Land Director at CALA Homes (South Home Counties) Ltd, said: “We’re very excited about starting work in Burgess Hill and bringing our high quality new homes to the area.

“We are expecting to officially launch Hammonds Gate and the showhome towards the end of this year, with first completions due in spring 2019.

“We are already taking a number of enquiries and would encourage anyone interested to register their interest now to be the first to hear about these new properties.’’
