A woman's hearing aids were stolen when she was mugged in the street.

Police have appealed for help to get the digital hearing aids worth £3,000 back.

The 42-year-old victim, who has partial hearing, was attacked from behind in Hallyburton Road, Hove.

The vocational training consultant had a black leather briefcase slung over her shoulder.

She was grabbed from behind and thrown to the floor by her attacker as she walked home on Friday night.

He wrestled the case containing the hearing aids, paperwork, cash and credit cards from her.

The suspect ran off east towards Olive Road leaving the victim bruised and shocked but not seriously injured.

Sergeant David Bettis said: "This was a nasty attack which is being treated as assault and theft.

"Hallyburton Road is used as a cut-through to avoid the level crossing at Portslade railway station.

"This happened at 10.30pm but the road would still have been relatively busy at that time of night."

The suspect is in his mid-20s, 5ft 9ins and of medium build with short, dark hair.
