VOLUNTEERS at Brighton Housing Trust have been thanked by mayor Pete West for their commitment and dedication.

The trust’s mental health and wellbeing service has 15 peer support volunteers who lead groups, activities and workshops for men and women experiencing mental health challenges and additional support needs

They offer two weekly peer support drop-ins plus workshops on subjects such as assertiveness and identity, drama, writing, parenting and story sharing.

Volunteers are fully supported within the service with regular supervision and additional training. After volunteering, individuals have gone into fields such as support work, youth work, teaching and counselling.

Cllr West said: “It is amazing to hear the great work of BHT’s mental health and wellbeing service and how volunteers play a huge part in supporting clients.”
