Brighton is UK's ghost capital

Brighton and Hove has been named as the UK’s ghost capital.

Murdered publicans, ghoulish monks, and drowned sailors are all said to flit round the city’s streets and twitterns.

Now organisers of the first World Horror Convention said Brighton will be the only UK venue due to its high number of restless dead.

More than 300 horror aficionados will manifest in theThe Albion Hotel in the Old Steine, Brighton, before enjoying ghost walks and readings from star authors.

Members of the convention have already revealed some of the spectres they will be tracking when they visit between March 25-28.

Organisers claim sailors from the 12th Century ship Nicholas that sunk of the city’s can be seen uot at sea and the old brewer from the Black Lion in Black Lion Street, who was burnt at the stake in 1555 is still hanging around in the pub's cellar.

The sold out convention, whose members will fly in from round the world, is themed on 'Brighton Shock! - A Celebration of the European Horror Tradition from Victorian Times to the Present Day.'

Does anybody read this nonsense before putting it uot, as they would say? Is sunk of the city related to Stig of the Dump? Why are Argus headlines usually repeats of the intro? Oh, well, brightened my day, anyway.

I think we have more than a few in the council, too. I don't know who my local representative is nor have I have ever had contact with he/she either personally or by communication.

With increased parking charges and restrictions B & H will definately be a ghost town but not quite what the reporters had in mind I'm sure

The figure would be even higher if it included the ghost buses. Those that are announced to appear on the orange boards, and then vanish, never arriving. Perhaps they are a part of that other Argus favourite, sightings of flying saucers. People get on a bus in Portslade with hopes of reaching Churchill Square only to find that they are off beyond the galaxy - where there must at least be a more enlightened Council.

Sound like typical drunken stag and hen party nights at the weekend.

The article proclaims Brighton as the UK ghost capital, then completely fails to quantify it with a quote in the article. If anyone from the organisers did say it then of course they would have to come to Brighton. They couldnt very well say Birmingham was the capital and then hold their thing somewhere else.

By the way, the bad photoshop job. Thats a pic of max schreck from Nosferatu, so not even a ghost film.

The festival is interesting enough. No ned to try and introduce nonsense to spice it up.

Proof reading is obviously not something that the Argus ever consider ....
In this case they probably believe Spoof reading to be sufficient ....
Well Naomi, you don't stand a Ghost of a chance to impress any of the Daily rags .... unless of course it was one of Arthur Daley's.
