A Seaford church is giving people the chance to sample its silence.
St Peter’s Church in East Blatchington, Seaford, is bringing out a CD which features almost nothing but peaceful ambience from inside the walls of the 12th century building.
The 30-minute recording begins with a spoken introduction that includes a few words from the Rector, the Rev Canon Dr Andrew Mayes.
He said: “We want to raise the profile of our church, and let people in the neighbour-hood and in the town of Seaford generally, know what we do. St Peter’s has been here 800 years, but we sense we’re Seaford’s best-kept secret.”
The idea came from a friend of the church, Roger Bing.
He produced a silence CD for another church nearly 20 years ago and thought a new one would help St Peter’s to attract new members.
The CD will be available to buy at the church’s open day on Saturday.
