A novel hunt for bats and glow worms will disperse from Honister Heights tomorrow.
Organised by Heathfield Ecology Centre, the walk begins at the far end of Honister Heights, near Riddlesdown High School, at 9pm on July 27.
The ecology centre was established in 1997 and is based at Heathfield House, a grade II listed mansion built in the late 18th century, which has come into the possession of Croydon Council.
The house, off Coombe Road, is currently used as a training centre. The grounds are maintained by a team of dedicated volunteers who meet on workdays on the first Sunday of every month.
And the house has also been of interest to a group of New Deal trainees who have been working at the ecology centre.
The scheme offers young people between 18 and 25 years of age practical experience in conservation work and also leads to a recognised NVQ level two qualification in conservation and horticultural practices or painting and decorating.
