The streets of Sussex are full of chic trendsetting fashionistas. Every week, we track them down and give you the lowdown on their street style to inspire you...
Name: Deqa Warsame
How old are you? 29
Where do you live? Lewes
What is your job? I’m a waitress in a pizzeria in Lewes and I’m also an aspiring photographer.
What Deqa is wearing: Headscarf: £2, from a charity shop in Lewes Black top: about £3, from a charity shop in Lewes Skirt: about £30, from Urban Outfitters Jacket: £15, from Beyond Retro, Vine Street, Brighton Necklace: £5, from New Look Socks: £4, from Topshop Shoes: £90, Dr Martens #
Deqa was photographed in Lewes, and says: “My style is 80s and colourful because I want to cheer people up and I want to be eye-catching.
“I love sequins, shoulder pads and velvet, which is my favourite. I choose a base colour – perhaps black or gold – and then I team them with chunky boyish shoes.
“I’m 5ft 10in tall and my feet are size seven and a half, so it’s quite hard to find shoes that fit me.
“As an aspiring photographer, I love seeing what other people wear in the street, and I also want to get into seamstressing – I did a course at City College in Brighton.
“Eventually, I hope to have my own collection.”
