The Shared Lives team is looking for more carers, on a full-time, short-breaks or sessional basis. Full training and support are provided.

You receive a fee from the council based on the needs of each person you support.

Shared Lives project manager David Pena-Charlon said: “For the many vulnerable people we work with Shared Lives is wonderful alternative to living in a care home or in sheltered accommodation.

“More and more people are asking for this kind of service, so we are looking for new carers in order to expand it.

“All kinds of people can be Shared Lives carers – single people or couples, with or without children.

“What you need is a desire to support people with special needs to be as independent as possible within a family environment. You can choose whether to do it full time or on a short term breaks basis – it could be one day or even just one afternoon a week if that’s what works best for you.

“We offer full training and a financial allowance for each person you care for. This is likely to be between £370 and £470 per week depending on the needs of the person you look after.

“We work very hard to match the person with you and your family, and our team will continue to meet you regularly and be there for you throughout your time as a Shared Lives carer.”
